COVER ME CRAZY

It's 95 degrees outside and you're trying not to get sun spots all over your face. So what do you do? You put on a hat! But these days, hats are no longer just a cancer-preventer but an accessory. A statement. A piece that perfectly ties an outfit together whether it's boiling hot in California or freezing cold on the East coast. Well then you may ask, what kind of hats am I talking about? But if I listed all the different styles of hats to choose from depending on the occasion or temperature outside, you would sit there hoping that you never read this blog. So how about we focus on just a couple of the most popular hats among adolescents nowadays.

Do hats serve a real purpose? Or are they just a frivolous accessory? Well the truth is that hats dated back to the Middle Ages when women were forced to cover their hair. It evolved through time into bonnets during the 18th century, then during the 20th century, their size grew larger and larger.

What hat is both stylish and protective for any girl on hot summer’s day? The answer is obviously none other than the classic floppy hat! It’s first purpose is to cover the your face—where the most sensitive skin is at. And second, to make you stand out among any crowd. Wear your favorite burgundy wide-brimmed accessory to the beach, the outdoor mall, or down New York City’s Time’s  Square. Whatever outfit you decided to wear that day will be completed with the touch of this hat.

What about a more casual look? For all the tomboys out there, a simple baseball cap has always been her best friend. But nowadays, all the other girls are wearing the same thing. Snapbacks can be found in any girl’s closet. It’s a quick on-the-go accessory that’s perfect for going to a theme park, watching your little brother’s soccer game, or blocking the rain from your face when you don’t have a hoodie or an umbrella at hand. These classic caps are not to go out of style anytime soon.

What's cute, crocheted, and has been popular since the early 2000’s? It's none other than the beanie! It’s true, girls can’t get enough of these knitted accessories. They were originally meant for boys to wear as part of a trend. You could find groups of skaters wearing their Ruca-branded beanies wherever they went. Snowboarders and skiers sported these accessories the best in their prospective regions. But the fact that it was a guy thing to begin with didn’t stop girls from rocking these kinds of hats. The perfect outfit for a teenage girl in the wintertime would be her gold-buttoned blazer, her skin-tight black jeggings, high leather boots, and of course, to top it all off, her finely knitted beanie. Cute and cozy is exactly what a girl’s  aim is.

And here is a how to wear a hat tutorial from the manager at Goorin Brothers. Enjoy!

Sexy Summer Swimwear

Summer is right around the corner and it's time to work on those bombshell summer bods. This year there are quite a few styles perfect for any occasion and any body type. So let's show off some skin!

History continues to repeat itself with the increasingly popularity of its 1950s swimwear. High-waisted bottoms, sweetheart and halter necklines, and fuller-cupped tops are all prominent elements of this timeless style.

Don't want an awkward tan? Keep your vintage style bikini only for special occasions and try out a cute, flirty ruffle suit to play up your girlish curves. Victoria's Secret has a lot of choice to choose from including this adorable one.

My favorite style of all is the crochet bikini. It emanates a relaxed, yet sexy feeling. It is surely an eye-catcher with its intricate design. The only thing I must warn is that it takes longer to dry, but that won't be too much of a problem under the summer sun. I am absolutely in love with this Free People one piece.

With that in mind, there is no right or wrong style. All that matters is that it makes you feel good both inside and out. Confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can have. So have fun and always remember to  put on lots of sunscreen! :)
